Recent Spaces test out caustics in production scenes

Corona Renderer 4 introduced a whole new way of calculating caustics – but are they practical for use in actual production scenes? And what about in animations?

London-based architectural & design visualization studio Recent Spaces are always on the look-out for the ultimate in photo-realism, so their artist Tobias Grendelmeier did some testing to find out and shared their findings with us.

IAMSTATIC – salt flats, crime lords, and racey wallpaper!

We last spoke with iamstatic back in October of 2017, and today we catch up with David Greene, Director / Partner at IAMSTATIC, to learn about some of their recent projects, including BMW stunts on the salt flats, a backwoods scene that is not going to end well for one person, and horse racing that plays out on wallpaper!

Hyundai i30n “Turning Petrol Heads” – wearelut

We spoke with John Crawshaw from wearelut about their recent “Turning Petrolheads” project for the Hyundai i30n. This involved creating a 60 second TV ad and two 15 second TV spots, plus a print and billboard campaign (which included lenticular images, that change with angle of view, on the sides of London buses).

All the work featured a mix of CGI blended with real world footage, and we asked John about the challenges they faced.

IAMSTATIC – peeling paint, sailing ships, and alien worlds!

IAMSTATIC is  a Toronto-based studio who direct, design and produce award-winning projects for film & television, commercial advertising, and immersive / digital content. They use Corona Renderer on most of their animation projects, including the title sequence for the Netflix show “Frontier” and an ad campaign for Vuse that traveled to some beautiful alien worlds.

We spoke with David Greene, Director / Partner at IAMSTATIC, about some of their recent animation work using Corona.
