Off-Topic / Re: Project Management Tools
« on: 2019-05-24, 13:31:55 »
We have tried many. It really depends on the size of the company and if you plan to use the system with your clients as well.

Asana was nice - but back in the day it was pretty slow and there was no Gantt chart
Trello - is a great tool for small teams with small amount of task. I still use it for my personal stuff
Wrike - gets more powerful with every update, does have a lot of functions, but also bugs which can drive some people mad, but I like it the most.
Google Doc - still widely used in our office as a collaboration and planning tool. It still does have its place
Basecamp - I hated UI, looked old school, I found UI bad for big companies with many people on board
Microsoft Sharepoint etc - Don't just don't do it.
JIRA - regarded as the best solution among devs and IT guys, but not that user friendly for "not IT people".

Hi guys, this is a really interesting thread. I have noted your opinions on both Vray and Corona and I will soon post a little poll about both software.
Meanwhile, can you express in short answer why do you prefer Corona or Vray? And if you should describe each of them in one sentence, what would you say? Good or bad, any answer is valuable.

Thank you chilombiano! This means a lot for us, really!

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Subscription emails...
« on: 2016-09-21, 19:25:25 »
Hi,
it is as you pretty much say, the e-commerce provider which we use is not very flexible but we are working on fix -
step one is offloading all the discount emails to new customer zone. This way you will get your codes only if you really need them.
second step is switching e-commerce provider as this one is not really flexible.
We finally have a really capable web developer who just started, so I hope that we can have the fix in two months maximum.

Do you think that you can send me all those five emails to me? (hotovy[at]coron.....) I am not sure why are you getting email number 2. Email number 3 we might be able to easily remove very soon.

Hi Dan,
Xsystem is not authorised Corona resellers.

Hi,
I think that you are referring to an answer which our new assistant sent earlier today.
I am not aware of the full content of the email as I did not read it (I will ask Monika to pass me that email tomorrow morning). But I guess that you are the owner of Box + Subscription license.
And because you were one of the few people who paid for your license directly (not through our website) we have sent you the reminder that your subscription license will expire soon with a proforma invoice for 99EUR for next 12 month. I do remember that Monika briefly asked me what will happen if the customer will decide to not renew his subscription. I gave a short answer, that the customer will keep the current version of the software what they have, but will not be able to receive new versions and upgrades anymore. I have also said, that there will not be a possibility for the customer to pay 99USD subscription again at later stage. Like 4 / 9 / 16 months after his original license expired. I think that this is a correct behaviour. Because if you decide that you want to jump back to the "subscription wagon" only at the time when you like some certain update (for example 7months after your original subscription expired), you should not receive 12 months free updates from the moment you have decided to pay 99Euros. We could possibly let you pay 99Euros, and set the validity of such subscription just to 5 months (12-7). This is possible, but it brings a lot of extra administrative tasks (we have to manually set new special order, change the validity of the subscription, extend licenses on license server etc) - that is pretty inefficient. And if I will take into account a number of box licenses we have sold in total, it is not worth it. This brings me to another point which I would like to talk about in our upcoming blog post.

FairSaaS vs Box

We gave our customers a choice last year, between FairSaaS licenses (subscription) or Box (traditional license types). The fact is that less than 0.2% licenses are Boxes and less than 1.6% of licenses are Box with subscriptions. The traditional license model seems to be dead to me. We have mentioned the reasons and benefits of the subscription model for end users and us as developers on our blog earlier last year. That is still valid. But now we see that maintaining Box licenses cost much more than what it really brings. Doing updates for Box licenses is almost a waste of time and resources. And we will soon discontinue this license type. Not because we want to force users into subscription, but because users themselves decided that this type of license is not demanded by them anymore. We will also start fading Box+Subscription licenses at some point in 2016 - we will keep it in our store, but it will be only on request. This will happen later in Q2-Q3 2016. On the other hand, we will do certain changes later this year which will compensate this move, so the users on FairSaaS licenses will get even more value for money. This will let us focus less on licensing and pricing hell, and more on Corona itself.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Buying FairSaaS

It looks like that paysafecard is not accepted. I recommend you using paypal or any from the supported debit/credit cards.
Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover, and JCB.
or alternatively you can use bank transfer. However for this type of payment we would require FairSaaS paid yearly.

But still, the preferred way is the debit/credit card or paypal.

Hi I will ask our store provider if that's possible or not and let you know/
Another option can be international transfer, debit/credit card and paypal

[Max] Daily Builds / Re: Daily builds
« on: 2015-02-19, 13:01:09 »
I am not saying that posts are not useful. I see their place. I have already outlined when the post is useful and when it is not. Main message of the post above is, use mantis for reporting bugs. That should be always priority. Reporting it just on the forum does mean, that there is a chance that we will forget about the issue. I know that for many people it is easier to write just on forum, but not for us. It makes bug fixing much harder. In ideal world I would rather see every issue posted on mantis first, then possibly following with thread on forum if broader discussion is necessary. Other way does not prove to be working well in development.

yes. report even those if they happen from time to time. It really means that we will get some info, that there might be some problem. If you will write it just here we can overlook it by accident.

[Max] Daily Builds / Daily Builds and testing
« on: 2015-02-19, 11:32:51 »
Hello Everyone, I would like to make a really important post, so please read it carefully.

I will start with the basic information about dailies, testing and guidelines of reporting the issues.

•   Daily builds are development builds to test the functionality of the application.
•   They do not always represent the final product.
•   They will have bugs.
•   Use it at your own risk at real production. Dailies are for the brave.
•   We are giving you the access to them, so you can find and report problems, stability issues and bugs.
•   For reporting bugs USE MANTIS. Posting on forum or in thread is NOT enough.
•   Posting on forum or in this thread without stating version of the build, OS version, max version is completely useless info and wasted energy.
•   If you feel the necessity to write a post in a thread, please always state a following info:
severity of the issue, how to reproduce issue, OS version, 3ds Max version, any plugins which you are using in project, short summary and description of an issue
•   Issues reported in Mantis will receive feedback. (Sooner or later)
•   Every reported issue is then replicated by our Support Specialist – Marcin Miodek (Maru)
•   If we cannot replicate the issue or if it is obvious that the problem is caused by the user rather than software, then this issue is ignored and user is notified via mantis.
•   Posts in this thread or daily builds thread can slip undetected > So use mantis.
•   Posts in this thread or other daily builds thread might be registered by us, but we do not necessary answer on these as we would be doing nothing else than writing responses.
•   Please do not expect that we will immediately react on posts, we are a small team at the moment. So it is not possible. If you need an answer. Write “URGENT” in the beginning of the post or send us an email to info@corona-renderer.com or fill in a support ticket via www.corona-renderer.com/help
•   Please use mantis
•   Please use mantis
•   Please use MANTIS

•   If you will not follow the rules, you will be kicked out from daily builds :(

I hope that we can all agree on these simple rules. It will make our lives as developers much easier and we will be able to react and fix the issues in an effective way. We all want one thing, to create the greatest render engine possible and we cannot do it without your help.

Thanks for your understanding and for all your testing efforts so far. Corona would not be what it is now, without you.
