General CG discussion / Maya Nurbs vs Rhino!
« on: 2018-09-29, 13:26:21 »
Hi,
Can anyone who is familiar with Maya Nurbs explain that which one of Rhino or Maya Nurbs is better for modeling products?
Which one has more control over surfaces and results in better quality final models?

General CG discussion / Hard surface modeling
« on: 2018-09-27, 08:24:54 »
Hi,
The following is a polygonal camera which has not been smoothed using turbosmooth.
How the final render can be smooth while there is no smooth modifier in the main model?
What is the keyword for this type of modeling? I want to search some information on Google.

Hi,
I want to create a high quality car model like what you see in the image below.
Can SOLIDWORKS model the same quality or do I need to use Maya (polygonal method?
My problem with polygonal method is its low quality and artifacts in some curved areas when I add smoothing.
Please guide me.

Hi,
I'm going to render som SOLIDWORKS models using Corona and 3ds max. For lighting, I use Light Map Studio. What is the best way to render them while keeping the RAM usage at the minimum? Converting the model into OBJ or importing as STEP file without any change?
Many times converting the SOLIDWORKS model into OBJ increases the file size for example 480Mb and this decreases the rendering speed.
My RAM is 16GB and CPU Corei 7 4790k

Hi,
What resource is good for downloading diffuse, reflection, roughness and bump map?
Is there any webside for high quality texture downloading.? (For free)

General Discussion / DoF setting!
« on: 2018-05-11, 16:13:26 »
Hi friends,
In Corona for 3ds max, how is it possible to focus the camera on a specific part of an object?
In heavy DoF, it is very critical to find a proper focus distance but I cannot set it correctly.
In KeyShot you can click on the desired area of your object to set a correct focus distance. How is it possible in Corona for 3ds max?

General CG discussion / Re: CAD or Polygonal technique?

Sculpt. :P
Are you serious?
Are you? You keep asking same questions time and time again. What's the point? Maybe it's time to choose one technique and start actually learn it? ;]
Yeah, You are right, I keep asking the same question because I've really confused what is the best strategy. Please help me to get to a good answer. Which one is more easier than the other while has high quality? CAD (Like SolidWorks) or Polygonal modeling (Like C4D)?

Congratulation, Very nice model. Did you model it too?

General CG discussion / CAD or Polygonal technique?
« on: 2018-02-10, 20:03:20 »
Hi friends,
If the goal was to render a high quality car model, which one would be a better choice? CAD modeling or Polygonal modeling?
Note that the goal is just rendering a photorealistic car model and not manufacturing?
Please explain why you'd choose that option?

In my opinion I would use 3DS MAX / MAYA or MODO for something like this.

3DS wise I would refer to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSLLdTBwLMfTKWS56tOiQpw for any tips on modelling. Can even request custom models off him I believe.
Thanks for the guidance but if you look carefully you'll notice that there are many tiny holes at the lower parts that their edges are smooth so simple boolean won't work. How is it possible to make those many holes using SubD method?

Hi guys,
If someone intended to model a complex object which one would be better choice in the terms of quality, accuracy and ease of use?
1) SubD softwares like 3DS MAX
2) SolidWorks along with PowerSurface plug-in installed.
3) Rhino along with T-Spline plug-in installed.
Note that the objective is just single frame rendering, not animation. The final model will be rendered in an another software. The issue is just modeling.
Consider the following model as the objective:

I need help / Re: Two important questions
« on: 2018-01-12, 18:29:47 »
On the arc of white, not sure of the cause, one question comes to mind - does it change with the DOF? If you strengthen / weaken it, or change the distance, does that ring move? Does it go away if DOF is disabled? Is it still there with a default CoronaMtl?
IES light is the cause. I found it.
