52 seconds! only 500 euros, but loud as hell.
Along with my Threadripper my 2hour render went to 25min, pretty darn crazy :D

Looks strange, not like the usual missing environment asset. But anyway:

Are you sure that the slave has access to all needed assets? Use Shift-T and check all paths (enter "ATSOps.CheckNetworkPaths=true" in the max script listener window before, or even better: put this in a script in your scripts\startup directory). All assets should be flagged as "OK" (not only "Found"). However, this looks more like some exposure/gamma issue.


- The slave max is correctly set to gamma 2.2 I presume?
- Do you have any error/warning in the DrServer window?
- Have you used batch rendering here?
- Which version of Corona and Max is this?
- Do you use a plugin which could cause it? (All used plugins have to be installed on the slave as well)
- Which view/camera is this? (perspective/CoronaCamera/PhysicalCamera...)
- Are the language settings the same on both computers?
- And out of curiosity: what's the reason for running a server OS on the node? :)

That's unfortunately always the case when using dr vs. single node when rendering the same amount of total passes.

I figured it out by now, i didn't have vray installed on the slave, so it was missing the HDRI map.
The machine I bought only works on server lol.
It's a HPE proliant 580 G7, lotta cores, cheap on the web, however for some reason it only connects to the internet with server 2012 lol.

Hi all,

I was wondering, I bought myself a server to use as a renderfarm. So I have no experience with distributed rendering so far.
But I notice when I use distributed rendering my image becomes darker and there is more noise at 250 passes then if I would render it local.

Server runs on Window server 2012 R2.

The server itself has no GPU.. Not sure if that would have anything to do with that.

Hi all,

I have a serious problem i'v been trying to get my images rendered on Rebus for over 2 days now.
I set the limit to 250 passes but all my images come out noisy.

Like really noisy, then I made a testscene, just a tree and plane/hdri map sent it over it gets back super noisy.
The thing is, on my machine 75 passes are cleaner then 250 passes on rebus.

Now i'v been using Rebus for over 2 years and never had any problems like this.
I even downgraded to hotfix 1 because they haven't added hotfix 2 yet.

then I tried another renderfarm and I got the same result. So now i'm starting to think its on my end.
I tried resetting rendersettins but nothing helps.

Please someone, i'm running against a hard deadline with no solution in sight.
Also re-installed corona. And tried it even in an older version of max.

I'm getting light leaks when rendering a scene. The leaks are understandable at the edges of the wall, but the columns are solids sticking trough the roof - so there shouldn't be any leaks.

Did not have this problem in 1.4. Does every surface have to be "shelled" in order to not get leaks, or is this just a bug?
Even in 1.4 if my ceiling wasn't shelled I would get light leaks.
Same goes for the floor.

Denoiser will be calculated and applied if render stops by reaching any of set limits in scene tab (noise, time, pass) or is stopped by user using stop button in VFB. Denoiser will not be calculated and applied if render is stopped by user using cancel button in render window or by hitting esc key in keyboard. This is intended behaviour.

Oooh, now that explains a lot.Normally I always use cancel because its faster.

Okay so basically I have to keep the main render tab at view and then use the region in the vfb.
seems to work.

Next up learning denoiser. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. But this will probably be user related not software related lol.

Region rendering is very straightforward, you hit region button and draw region in VFB. Can you record a video to show how it doesn't work for you?

Regarding the internal res?Has an alternative been provided or?

From Corona 1.4 presentation:
Removed Internal Resolution Multiplier (this is replaced with highlights clamping option, and upcoming glare/bloom filters)

I'l try and make a video, but there seems to be a bug where in same cases the VFB overrides the settings from the render tab and in same cases its the other way around.
Example that just happened.

: render tab says render to view
: vfb says region

It will only render region then. ( even tho the main tab says view )

Now the other way around.
When I set in the main tab render to region. and drag a region in the viewport this will override the region I select in the vfb.

Not sure that's how its supposed to work...
