Looking good, and looking forward to updating my personal Corona Mat library and previews.

In my personal library, I use this scene ;-)
It isn't very PRO, but I have everything I need:

(*) Flat area with real reference (girls)
(*) Good flat and smooth reflection
(*) Good refraction and absorption

Myabe you can have some idea for your setup.
I added model, because I'm used to see the shader with VRay )))

Love this set up, wish I had it. Is it a basic studio lighting set up?

Been using MAX since 6.0, started in 2003 in college. Primarily always used mr, but have been venturing into VRay also. Though once Corona caught my attention (thanks to Juraj's work on Ronen's forum and once I found out Ludvik was involved I was sold), I decided to give it a shot. I've been really impressed so far and have started to implement it into my work, both professional and personal. Currently I work on the design team for Goldstein, Hill & West Architects in NYC and got into architecture thanks to LEGO.

I haven't always had the most impressive work, but I am eager to learn and always improve. Using mr didn't always yield the best results, hence my move into VRay, and now into Corona. I've never actually posted my work on a forum before, mainly because I was never satisfied with it since I strive for the best, but I'll be updating my work with Corona and sharing it here soon.

The community here is great, and I hope it continues to grow and succeed.

I only play Source, sorry.

General Discussion / Re: Ambient Occlusion (AO Pass)
« on: 2014-01-14, 17:54:01 »
I just made a quick test to verify, and i get my AO pass nearly clean in the first minute of rendering. And it gets rendered with the main image.

I am also very curious why do you people need an AO pass with brute force renderer. This is not mental ray, you do not have any missing contact shadows to fix there. Only thing that will applying an AO pass gives you is a lower photorealism and more CG looking output. I can imagine using AO map for any kind of procedural effects, but for Corona, you should not really be adding contact shadows that are there already.

If AO were desired (sometimes my office prefers a more CG/stylistic look) would you recommend using AO in material setups instead? Also, if doing an AO pass with the texmap, do lights need to be disabled/deleted like in mr?

Thanks keymaster, merged the files for now.

Resolved bugs / XRefing Scenes not supported?
« on: 2014-01-13, 19:23:50 »
I have a file that has 3 other MAX scenes referenced in, yet only the geometry in the main file renders. The referenced files do not.

Linking from CAD works, but not XRef scene.

General Discussion / Sun Settings with A5 build?
« on: 2014-01-08, 17:27:29 »
Hello all,

Just started fooling around with Corona to try it out and wanted clarification on one thing. Since the A5 build doesn't have the full options under the Post Processing tab to help with exposure, I'm using extremely low sun & environment settings to get a normal looking image.

I was wondering if this is the way to go about things without the options to adjust the intensity multiplier and highlight burn? My sun is set at .005-.15 intensity and the CoronaSky environment multiplier I've been lowering to .1-.4.

I've been running some material tests using Jeff Patton's mat scene file before getting into a full blown scene, so I can post some images if necessary a little later.

Thanks for any help!
