Hey all,
due to the long loading times of 3ds max i decided to switch from a normal 2,5" SDD to a M.2 NVMe SSD and share my test results with you.
contestants:Crucial CT512MX100SSD1 512GB
Samsung SSD 960 EVO 500GB
Textures are all located on an external NAS, Synology DS215j with 85Mb/s transferrate.
System:
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660 v3 @ 2.60GHz
Asus X99 Pro

conclusion:All programs open between 10%-30% faster if no content will be loaded from the NAS.
Differences in pasing times and geometrie preperation are within reading deviation.
The difference is perceptible but not as huge as the difference between HDD and SSD.
So its up to you if you are willing to spend the money for this speed increase.
