I've been working on a cross section through an object using matts in the opacity channel, which works fine in the render but doesn't show up in the viewport.

Is there a secret setting somewhere I can't find to make this happen?

Otherwise it makes it very difficult to work with :O(

I've attached a simple example of what I'm talking about.

Cheers.

Pete

It kinda does but I don't think it's in the way you want though. Not for material editing that is. 1st image is making sure OpenGL and transparency are turned on. 2nd is with the opacity map copied to the diffuse and activated. But like I said, It kinda works but probably not the way you want it to.
