What does it mean that the render comes out looking wrong? Can you show it?
I am not familiar with this kind of error at all.

Hi Maru

It seems the corona conversion does not work correctly. I would run the converter but many materials in the scene would give me the red vray material not supported
When I save as 2016 Max then no problem. I don't think it is a corona problem, rather Max and was wondering if anybody had a similar problem switching over to Max 2019

Most V-Ray materials should convert - are you sure you have V-Ray installed on the machine (necessary for the converter to run; it can be just the demo, and can be expired, but it does need to be installed)? Is it possible that in Max 2016 you have V-Ray installed, but not in 2019?

Also yes, ensure you have opened the effects tab and deleted them, since this is a converted scene it could have things in there which are not supported by Corona, as sprayer mentioned to do.
