Selected key new features

  • Corona Decal “by channel” allows you to have individual control over the material channels affected by a Corona Decal.
  • Cameras inside volumetric materials let you fly cameras through smoke and clouds, or have them half-submerged in water with accurate rendering.

  • Procedural Clouds add detail to the Corona Sky, with control over cloud cover, shape, and more, and they can be animated too.

  • Scatter Edge Trimming gives you control over the edges of lawns and other scattered surfaces.
  • Out of Core Textures reduces the amount of memory needed by Corona Bitmaps.

Corona for 3ds Max Alpha 6: free unlimited version

This is the older Alpha 6 version of Chaos Corona, released in March 2014. It is a fully functional free version and is a very capable render engine. We are giving it for free to anyone who does not want or is not able to afford the current version of Chaos Corona. There is no time lock or limitation of any kind, and it can be used both for personal, educational and commercial projects. More info in our blog post.

NOTE: Corona for 3ds Max Alpha 6 will not receive any bug fixes, support or our future attention. This software is available “as is” without warranty of any kind.
