The development of Chaos Corona started back in 2009 as a solo student project of Ondřej Karlík at Czech Technical University in Prague. Corona has since evolved to a full-time commercial project, after Ondřej established a company together with the former CG artist Adam Hotový and Jaroslav Křivánek, associate professor and researcher at Charles University in Prague.
In August 2017, the company became part of Chaos, allowing for further expansion and growth since that date. Chaos Corona continues to be developed by Chaos Czech a.s., a part of Chaos.
Corona’s popularity has grown year over year, thanks to its focus on delivering intuitive features that make our users’ lives easier, with innovations such as LightMix, Denoising, Interactive Rendering, a Node Editor in the C4D version. We continue to look for more ways for our users to focus on being artists, not technicians.
In 2022, Chaos merged with Enscape. This will open up even more avenues for advancing the boundaries of rendering and content creation for those involved in design, architecture, and more.
2022 was also the year that Corona was rebranded, aligning it with all other Chaos products. This was more than just a new look — it was also a move to becoming an integral part of the Chaos ecosystem. Compatibility with Chaos Cosmos was unveiled, along with full integration with Chaos Scatter with every Corona license, plus plans for Chaos Cloud compatibility in the near future.
